About Geo Map Tools
Geo Map Tools is a small collection of free, single-purpose map tools. Each one does exactly one job — measure a distance, calculate an area, find an elevation, estimate a population — without an account, a paywall, or a bloated interface in the way.
Why this exists
Most full-featured map platforms bury simple calculations behind logins, subscriptions, or unrelated features. Geo Map Tools is built the other way around: pick a tool, use it, get an answer. Every tool runs directly in your browser and is designed to be fast on a phone with a weak connection, not just on a desktop.
What's available
- Radius Around Point — Draw a circle of any radius around a point on the map.
- Elevation Where I Am — Find the elevation above sea level at your location.
- Find Population on Map — Estimate the population living within an area.
- Measure Distance — Click points on the map to measure the distance between them.
- How Far Is It Between — Get the straight-line distance between two places.
- Area Calculator — Draw a shape on the map to calculate its area.
- Elevation Profile — See the elevation change along a path you draw.
Where the data comes from
We don't maintain our own map or terrain database. Instead, each tool calls a small number of established, transparent sources:
- Map tiles — OpenStreetMap contributors
- Elevation data — Open-Meteo
- Place search / geocoding — Geoapify
- Population estimates — NASA's Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC), Gridded Population of the World
Straight-line distance, area, and radius calculations are computed directly in your browser and don't call any external service at all.
Independent and ad-supported
Geo Map Tools is an independent, ad-supported project — not part of a larger platform. Advertising is what keeps the tools free and account-free. See our Privacy Policy for how that works and what data is collected.
