Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Geo Map Tools collects when you use our map tools, and how it's used.

Location data

Some tools ask for your device's location using your browser's built-in geolocation feature (for example, to center the map on you or look up your elevation). This is used only to answer that request and is never stored on our servers or linked to you.

Place searches

When you search for a place name (for example, in the "How Far Is It Between" tool), that text is sent to our geocoding provider, Geoapify, to resolve it into coordinates. See Geoapify's privacy policy for how they handle that data.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and you can learn more about how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate site usage, such as which tools are popular and how visitors find the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as approximate location (from IP address), device and browser type, and pages visited. We do not use this data to personally identify you. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Other third-party data sources

Map tiles are provided by OpenStreetMap contributors, elevation data by Open-Meteo, and population estimates by NASA's Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC). Requests to these services (such as the coordinates you click on the map) are sent directly from our server or your browser to load the requested data, and are subject to each provider's own privacy practices.

Children's privacy

Geo Map Tools is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date.
